A Sour Memory

It had been a perfect night. Scott and Alexa had danced, eaten, drank and talked all night long in the most pleasant way. Their anniversary celebration had been a success, now they were slightly intoxicated on the road home.

A light rain fell on the pavement and the fog made vision difficult. However, that sweet night kept them in a state of euphoria capable of accepting everything as beautiful.

It was not long before they reached their destination, they only had to cross a small bridge over a peaceful lake. Suddenly, without warning, a deer appeared on the road. Scott turned the steering wheel sharply to dodge it but the car slid over the wet pavement, they crashed into the bridge fenders and the car overturned over the lake.

Alexa woke up sweating and altered on her bed, she was alone, flooded by the deepest sadness and wrapped in tears. That had been real, it had marked the end of her relationship with Scott and tormented her as the last sour memory that remained of her lover.
