DAWN
“Dawn breaks on Marblehead.” A sarcastic remark we would use as children when one of the group was a little slow to “get the point.” Marblehead is a town on the Northeast coast of the US.
Everyone would laugh. The butt of the joke would look around with a “duh” and then start to laugh too. Everyone had at some point been in that position, the butt. It was not malicious. Just playful and funny.

I think we all have an expression or a swear word that refers to a particular region, a profession or a country. For us, it’s ‘a farmer’ or ‘the Belgian’. Did everyone laugh? I’m not sure about that, but as long as the atmosphere stays friendly and no one feels genuinely offended, everything’s fine. I think it has more to do with the tone in which something is said than with the words themselves.
