Ahh, the cabbage borscht gave it away...
Just have to twist the story that he was leaving when she went into the garage. Could be easily done. She smelled and saw the evidence, fed him anyways but when he was leaving, the icicle almost killed her and she lost it and went into the garage...
Originally he came inside and ate lunch but during a hasty edit that got cut and after posting I realized, oops, I cut the part where he did eat that borscht for lunch. I like your thinking - the icicle that just missed her is what sent her over the edge! Thanks for reading and commenting!

Thank you Marianne! No conflict of interest (too close?) that I know of. Yes I edit non-fiction. I've been beta reading most of my life. If showing up at Discord is a requirement of the group, someone will have to ping me - I tend to avoid chat channels. Thanks and count me in!
