Sinna's Trial

in #freewrite5 years ago

She pulled her belongings behind her one belabored step after another. The miles stretching on as the noon day sun beat down relentlessly on her uncovered head. One suitcase tipped and set a chain reaction of other precarious baggage falling onto the hard packed road. The weight she was dragging coupled with the draining heat threatened to tax her remaining strength. He needed her, that drove every step. He was alone and in pain. She would not fail him.

Her hair plastered the sides of her face, gaunt with sickness and saddened by loss, Jake had to pull through and he asked her to come.

She still remembered that night that Jake left. A bloody bandage covered his knuckles, evidence of the battle he'd had with Father. Her mind flashed quickly through images of the two of them entangled on the floor. Expletives cast between clenched teeth vowing to kill the other. She squeezed her eyes shut as a sob escaped her lips. The air swirled around her like the eye of a hurricane. "I must keep going. I'm not going to fail."

She couldn't stop thinking of that night. All that blood, the swearing, the hearts oozing hatred and spite.

The absence of light in her father's eyes loomed before her again. Blood drizzling from his lips curled into a grotesque sneer.
Her father died as angry as Papa claimed he was the day he entered life screaming.

Sinna bowed her head and still she walked, stumbling now and then over small sticks or stones marring her way.

The miles stretching as ominously as a pending storm seemed prepared to swallow her whole.

Hi,

How do you do? It was since a long time that I spoke with you. How's you life going?

enjoyed reading your freewrite.

but got stumbled upon this sentence "Her father died as angry as Papa claimed he was the day he entered life screaming." can you please explain it to me if you don't mind?

Hi @marvyinnovation, I'm well, and how are you? Her father died as angry as [Papa = her Grandfather] claimed he [entered life = was born] [screaming = crying]. Does that help some? I'm sorry it was not clear.

Hi @wandrnrose7,

"father died as angry as [Papa = her Grandfather] claimed he [entered life = was born] [screaming = crying]."

Please pardon me. I was unable to understand it. Mainly this part "father died as angry as her grandfather..... ". Can you please throw some light into it?

Her father died as angry as her Papa (grandfather) said he (her father) entered this life.

Oh, you leave us in the lurch - or not. OF COURSE she will make it to Jake on time! She has to! I will not entertain any other possibility in my head.
Love the connotations that come with that name - Sinna - and would bet she is more of an angel than a sinner.

Yes, I like Sinna as she comes to me. Perhaps she will get more coverage in future pieces. Thanks so much for reading ❤

Thanks so much for giving us something to read! :)
I hope to see more of Sinna too. Keep her coming!

You got me wanting more of the write @wandrnrose7. Did Sinna make it?

Thank you @redheadpei, she's still walking that trail...but she's determined!
