Steemit Fruit and Veggies Monday Contest by @lenasveganliving- Fruit cocktail Smoothie

in #fruitsandveggiesmonday5 years ago (edited)

When I was a child we only have tropical fruits in our province. Looking at an apple, an orange or a grape was a very salivating fruit we wanted before but it was only for our eyes only. We could not afford to buy it. When I came here in Saudi Arabia, I thought it is one of my answered prayer and dream comes true. My employer is always buying any kind of fruits but his family members are not even eating it.

These fruits he bought the last few days were just displayed in the table but only me visited it.

Figs- nobody cared to eat this kind. I explained the benefits of eating this one, even once a day but they never like it. I am the only one consuming but I wasn't able to finish it.

Custard apple - it is called atis in the Philippines. This is one of the favorites. My employer forced his wife eating this because she had cancer and the doctor advised them to eat more fruits.

Oranges- only the youngest daughter loves it. It is so sweet.

This banana came from my country. It is too expensive here. Every day my boss mix it with some Arabic bread that I baked.

I didn't finish eating those fruits. It started rotting so before it will be wasted and thrash, I select the remaining good quality and make a fruit cocktail smoothie.

I washed it and sliced.

Blend it in the juice processor for 5 minutes and it looked so yummy.

Look at the finished product. Take note, I never use any kind of sugar. The sweetness of the banana and orange give a good taste.

Ready to serve 5 people.

The fruits are expensive and even if it is cheaper, I could not afford to throw it in the garbage. There are so many people who never eat fruits and veggies. A lot of people who are hungry, that is why I made a solution before throwing it. It's good for my health as well.

We all know the benefits of eating fruits. Why not eating if you can afford to buy it? Just like my employer's family, they don't love eating it.

This is my entry for the initiative of @lenasveganliving contest.

Yes, my dear it breaks my heart thinking of my family ,my grandchildren and the street children who are all hungry. Fruits are expensive in our place.

What a waste to let any of that fruit go rotten! Those figs especially look so fantastic. They are often fairly expensive here, as well, unless you happen to be lucky enough to have a tree. I would gladly join you in your daily munching of all that goodness!

I know figs has a great imfact of benefits for our body. The taste sometimes is not so sweet nut the benefits we get is the best.
Thank you @plantstoplanks

Coming from England, it seems odd to me to read that someone would find tropical fruits boring. For us it was apples and oranges that were boring and tropical fruits were rare and appealing. Although what tropical fruits we could get were picked early to be transported all those miles, so it wouldn't have been as wonderful as anything truly ripe and fresh. I didn't know that until I came to Australia, however.

Did the family enjoy the smoothie? Maybe that's how you can get them to eat the lovely fruit.

Yes, i laughed so much laughter. Then I told them, you are buying smoothie from a certsin juice maker outside but your fruitsvare rotten at home. Just maybe they are just lazy chewing the fruits. I tried not putting sugar for me but the rest, i put stevia sugar just to be more beneficial for the health of my lady boss wo conquered breast cancer for 10 years in a battle.
Thank you dear @minismallholding.

So yummy my friend @hangin. I love it top.

They really are i just did a post on my mom's fig trees 😀

Really, I will check it.

Thank you i do think you will like it 😊

Well done for not letting all that delicious fruit go to waste, I'd give anything to eat a fresh fig! It's very hard to find here plus very expensive too! Nice blog @olivia08;)

Those fruits look great! Sometimes buying a lot can be too much to eat especially since tropical fruits have lots of natural sugars in them! You can always dry them out in the oven when you start to notice this! Banana chips (baked) or fried banana is lovely! I have put my figs out in the sun before and let them dry for snacking later ;)
I love your idea of a smoothie, it's one of the best and easiest ways to get all of that nutrition in!
Thanks for sharing your fruits with us!

Oh, nice idea dear! Thank you for sharing it and I will do it next time. Nice meeting you and have a nice day!
