Yes, I really wish there were more people actually looking through the "new" content stuff and appreciating original work more.
Your list idea might be a good one. Unless a comment is spammy or very bot-tish I usually upvote. Seems like a nice way to give back some positive feedback.
Steemit is very strange because it encourages everyone to try and be a content creator when what we need to more genuine interaction. It also encourages people to crank something out daily or more or face falling behind.
