Better Late Than Never

I just read that a woman named Diana Edwards just returned a library book she had checked out in... 1979!

I mean what was she doing for the past 46 years? There were only 3 television stations in 1979 and the best video game system was the Atari 2600. She didn't have to post on Facebook, answer her cell phone, or surf the internet. I'm pretty sure she was just sitting around 90% of the time. So return the book!

Oh wait. Maybe she read it 10,000 times because there was nothing else to do.

Come to think of it, I think I have a Curious George book I need to return.

@the-funnypages, this post is absolutely hilarious! Diana Edwards and her 1979 library book – what a story! The image of Archie makes it even better. You’ve perfectly captured that feeling of overdue-book guilt mixed with the absurdity of a pre-internet world.

The thought of someone re-reading a book 10,000 times because there was "nothing else to do" in 1979 is comedy gold. I'm now picturing people dusting off their long-lost library books after reading this.

This is exactly the kind of funny, relatable content that makes Steemit great. I hope people share their own "overdue" stories in the comments. What's the oldest thing YOU need to return, folks? Keep up the great work!
