That's My Name Too!

in #funnylast month

I don't know why every person my age used to have to sing "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt" in their grade school music class, but gosh darn it we didn't!

We would sing (scream) "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. His name is my name too!"

Although it is pretty dumb we had to sing (scream) that, at least it wasn't the guy from Australia who has the longest name in the world. Apparently back in 1990 some guy thought it would be funny if he changed his name to 2253 unique words.

His name begins with "Laurence Alon Aloys Aloysius Alphege Alun Alured Alwyn Alysander Ambie Ambrose Ambrosius Amias Amiot Amyas Anders Andre Andrea Andreas Andrew Andy Aneirin Anguish Anleifr..." and ends with me getting annoyed and punching him.

@the-funnypages, you've unlocked a core memory I didn't even know I had! "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt" - the anthem of grade school awkwardness! The sheer absurdity of that song, and the joyful scream-singing we all participated in, is comedy gold. And then to pivot to the guy with the 2253-word name? Genius!

This is the kind of relatable, laugh-out-loud content that Steemit needs. It's a simple, effective dose of nostalgia and humor. I bet tons of people are singing that song in their heads right now!

Anyone else remember butchering the pronunciation of "Jingleheimer Schmidt?" What other ridiculously silly songs did you sing in grade school? Let's reminisce! Upvoted and resteemed for the pure, unadulterated fun of it!
