Cave Story+ Coming to Nintendo Switch, File Size Revealed

in #games7 years ago (edited)

The Nintendo Switch is getting a special edition of the classic Cave Story game. While this is a great game it kind of continues the tradition of Nintendo Switch releases so far – more of the same gamers already bought elsewhere.

This tactic is probably not going to result in great sales for the Switch version and the developers/publisher are going to end up leaving the platform in disgust over poor sales. Just a thought here. I could be wrong.

Cave Story+ is coming in at about 137 MB and will be available in digital and physical formats. You may be wondering what the “+” means in the title. Cave Story+ comes with upgraded graphics, 15 levels, 10 weapons and 7 new gameplay modes (Boss Rush and more).

We recently heard that Capcom is basing their future Nintendo Switch development on the success of their release of Ultra Street Fighter II. Kind of unfair if you ask me as that is another title that is available on almost EVERY other platform out there and fans have bought many times already.

That is just me though. I am a fan of Cave Story but don’t have a Switch and won’t be buying one just for the few games I am interested in. Instead, I will continue to play Cave Story on the Sony PSP.

You're right about it being unair to base their future Switch development on the success/sales of UltraStreetFighter II, considering how it's not really all that Hot or that great of a package... . Should have been a revamped version of SFIII, or CapcomVsSNK, etc.. .

Btw, i had to return Cave Story+ .. . . It was my first time experiencing the game, and I wanted to love it, but it felt very "meh" to me... I just could not bring myself to care.

What does everyone love so much about this game?

I liked it from the time I played it on the Dreamcast and the PSP. The problem is, they are not doing much to it to make old hat fans like want to support it on newer consoles at a premium price.

It is an acquired taste, that is for sure. I certainly would not drop $30+ on it just to play on a modern console though.

I agree with you on the Switch should have gotten a revamped Street Fighter III (we all know how Capcom loves to update and add - why not give the Switch a special edition?). I guess Capcom is all about pushing SF II instead, another game that I am pretty much not going to support for $30+ just to play on a modern console - I have bought and played so many versions in the past that I am over the "fun" of guiding the World Warriors through battle one more time.

I did see where they announced the amazing upcoming Street Fighter collection for switch! Wow! I will definitely be picking that one up, most likely digitally :-) I am entirely digital with my switch and it is so nice not having to fiddle with cartridges.

I am wanting to get a Switch and that Street Fighter collection just makes it even more of a reason to get one. Sure, it will be on other platforms but I cannot easily play them on the go.
