New Atari Jaguar Game, Switchblade, Enters Pre-Order Stage

in #games7 years ago

Did you know that the Atari Jaguar still receives new games? Switchblade is one such new game. Piko Interactive have been working with companies and individuals from the past to bring their games to more platforms. Switchblade is just one more title in that extensive list of titles they have ported to new consoles.

Me, I completely missed out on the Switchblade series since I hardly touched the Commodore Amiga computer back in the day. I was more of a Commodore 64 gamer if I was playing on a computer – otherwise it was consoles all the way.

The story behind Switchblade involves a sacred symbol being broken into 16 pieces by the evil Havoc. You play as Hiro who has been tasked with retrieving all 16 pieces and restoring the pride of your people. They are not saying there is a lot of pressure on your shoulders, just a lot of pride and people depending on you – the usual for a video game.

Fans of sprawling levels full of surprises will want to check out Switchblade. This was one of those titles that Core Design developed (Core Design being the company behind early Tomb Raider games) so it is like looking into the past somewhat.

Pre-order on the Piko Interactive website.

Wow, how is this still a thing? :)

Surprised about this, but I guess many old consoles and computers still see homebrew projects and remakes, and the odd commercial release here and there.

Nice, thanks for the post.

If there are fans willing to pay for the games, there will be people willing to port and create them. Check out my other recent posts, there are people making games for the Atari 2600 of all things.

Yep, love it. So cool that there are still these little communities developing games for these classic old systems
