Kojima finally said who's starring in PHYSINT, and it's Bill Skarsgård
Hideo Kojima showed up at Tokyo Game Show yesterday with the first real PHYSINT update we've had in ages. Bill Skarsgård has the lead role.
PHYSINT is his action espionage game, and so far it's basically been a name and a vague promise. Now there's a face on it. Kojima also showed off a new poster, which he says he shot himself, with Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser on it. He said the costume fittings, scans and camera tests they did earlier this year left him feeling good about where the project is heading.
That's pretty much it. No gameplay, no release window, nothing like that.
The other bit of news is that Xbox is publishing PHYSINT. They're already publishing OD, so the two are properly linked now. He gave a quick OD – KNOCK update too, with some behind the scenes footage of Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer doing performance capture.
I really like the Skarsgård pick. He's very good at being unsettling and he's also very good at being completely normal, and a Kojima game usually wants both out of the same person. I still have no idea what PHYSINT actually plays like, but I'd happily watch him walk down a corridor for eight hours, so that's a fine place to start.
Still no word on when any of this comes out. Kojima games take however long they take. But it's nice to see PHYSINT go from a name on a slide to something with actual people in it.
