Wo Long 2 has a release date now, and the free demo is live
Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja finally gave Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember a date. March 4, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Steam and Xbox on PC. It's on Game Pass at launch too.
March 2027 is ages away, so the demo is the part I actually care about. There's a free alpha demo up right now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Xbox on PC, and it shuts down on September 30. So not much time left.
It's a real chunk of game too, not a two-minute slice. You get the character creator, which they say is still a work in progress, and online co-op for up to three players. If you beat the boss Wuzhiqi you unlock the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for the full game next year. I like that. Getting to keep something from a demo is a nice touch, even if it's just a hat.
Same demon-infested Three Kingdoms setting as the first game. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was one of my favorite Team Ninja games, mostly because of the deflect timing. Before it clicks you die a lot, and after it clicks you feel unstoppable. I want to know if the sequel keeps that or softens it for new players.
Either way it's free and it's going away soon, so I'm downloading it this weekend.
