That sucks. I'm sure it's a lot better, but that is one thing that killed Ark for my friends was server issues and longing in only to find all your stuff gone. They wanted to try and rent their own server instead of playing on someone else's. I think they put a lot of time on someone elses server only to have them shut that server down.
It's very frustrating with games like this I know.

Very frustrating indeed. For Ark, we just played on my own save game, so it was basically our own private server for the two of us. That way there was no decay when we logged off, because I was the server.
