Fallout 3 : World Long Gone #REVIEW NO.33
Fallout 3 took 36 years after the events in Fallout 2, the story on Fallout 3 will not have anything to do with the story in the previous Fallout. The storyline Fallout 3 starts from the moment the player was born at Vault 101 Hospital, in the process of birth the mother of the player died, the father also raises the player alone. The player's childhood will be spent at his residence Vault 101, a sanctuary located in the city of Wahington DC.
During the childhood years that a player is given a book titled "You're SPECIAL" which refers to the SPECIAL system that has become the hallmark of one of the Fallout games and will be discussed later. During the childhood players will get PIP-Boy 3000 hours and weapons for practice. Various tests will be passed by players to develop their ability and also the interaction of players with other characters in Vault 101 also influence the development of ability. Side Quest inside Vault will also exist and it also influences the player's ability development. Life inside Vault was deliberately designed as a preparation for the toughness of life outside Vault.
!
After undergoing several phases of life, the player will be ready to exit Vault 101. The reason that prompted the player to exit Vault is because one day the player discovers his father has left Vault for unknown reasons and is considered a traitor by Vault 101 Controller (Vault 101 Overseer). Vault 101 administrators also consider participating players defected and they send their people to hunt the player and his father, because that player is forced out of Vault 101 to find her father and find out the reason why he left the Vault 101 Vault 101 has been successfully protect its citizens until 200 years, since it was never there are people who leave Vault 101, until one day the player's father was the first to come out into the wasteland.
Fallout 3 will take place in the East Coast of the United States mainly in Washington and the surrounding states of Virginia and Maryland. Places outside of Vault 101 or Wasteland that will be visited by players include Downtown D.C., Rivet City, Springvale, Bigtown, Germantown, Megaton, Arefu, Tenpenny Towers and Paradise Falls. Later the player can move quickly to the cities he has ever visited using the Washington Metro tunnel line.
The player's character appearance is based on choice when the player is born, there the player will choose the gender, ethnic (Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, or Asian), and various facial, hair, eye, skin color, eye color, beard, etc. Players will not be able to modify body shape, just face shape only. The face shape chosen by the player will also affect the shape of his father's face, so that each other (father-daughter) will have a face similarity. When you are 19 years old or leaving Vault 101, the player's main adventure will begin.
The battle system at Fallout 3 uses a system called VATS (Vault-Tec Assisting Targeting System), different from the Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 series that uses turn-based systems and is different from Fallout Tactics which uses turn-based and real-time systems without a pause. The battle system in Fallout 3 uses real-time combat system with a pause that is V.A.T.S. and did not use a turn-based combat system. By using V.A.T.S., players will have the opportunity to target enemies on certain body parts of the opponent, and shots on opposite body parts can be in various places at once, depending on the number of AP (Action Points) owned.
Parts of the body that can target the head, arms, legs, hands and arms to opponents of man, while for opponents tangible mutant, names unknown, but certainly for the two types of opponents was a part of the body that can no longer be targeted like the previous Fallout series of eyes and genitals. System V.A.T.S. this can not be used if players do not use weapons or use only grenades. When using V.A.T.S. then the player can not move, while the enemy keeps moving but in a much slower speed that is 1/10 and the events in the game environment are also slowed down a bit.
The weapons in Fallout 3 are divided into 6 classes and all can be modified once with various objects that players found in the game environment. Claimed that there will be more than 50 types of weapons and with the ability to be in-mod before, then there are a total of more than 100 variants of weapons.
Display on the screen HUD (Heads Up Display) in Fallout 3 appear minimalist with enough information complete. The information displayed on this HUD game consists of information on HP (Health Points) and compass / radar on the lower left of the screen while on the bottom right of the screen there is AP info (Action Points), number of weapons ammunition, body condition and amount of EXP (Experience Points ) that will appear if the player gets an EXP. Especially for radar, players will find information on the direction of the quest and also the location where the enemy is, Perception skill factor affecting sensitivity in detecting the opponent's players in the surrounding neighborhood. The cinematic aspect is also well noticed because the whole HUD can be turned off.
The Karma system remains in effect in Fallout 3, with this system then all aspects such as the choice of dialogue and the choice of fighting mode will affect the player's status in the eyes of the NPCs. If a player misbehaves or commits a crime, then the NPC's reaction will be negative or even attack the player and vice versa if it behaves well then the player will be able to extract more information from an NPC.
The number of NPCs in Fallout 3 is less than half the number of NPCs in the Oblivion game, but the voice actor in Fallout 3 is 2 times the number of voice actors in the Oblivion game. NPC in Fallout 3 is claimed to be entirely wearing voice actor so as to give its own color for each NPC. There will be more than 40,000 lines of in-game dialog. Known NPCs will be: Lucky Harith (a trader and repairman), Lucas Simms (Sheriff and Mayor of Megaton), Mister Burke (the person who gave the task to blow Megaton city with a nuclear bomb) and Lucy West (the woman at Megaton Bar ).
The player will not always be alone in the course of the action, the player can have up to a maximum of 2 NPCs, 1 fixed and non-replaceable NPC that is Dogmeat, a dog that can be told by a player to go for certain items such as weapons, ammunition, or stimpacks. Dogmeat can die if the player puts in a dangerous situation and once he dies shall be replaced back.
