Death Stranding borrowing a character?

On December 7th a Death Stranding trailer was released in the game awards, it’s a pretty interesting trailer, leaving a lot more questions than any answers, but any long-time fan of Hideo Kojima is not surprised. This trailer features or boy Norman Reedus who plays one of our favorite characters from The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon.

He as well as two other characters that ultimately end up having a very bad day. There’s a baby in the mix too that is contained in a odd looking vase container that glows orange and yellowish at times. Who’s this baby? Who knows! While fans try to put as many details together a more interesting question came up.

In the background of several scenes there appears to be a floating character, not just any floating character but one that many fans from the Metal Gear Solid franchise might recognize.

Is that Psycho Mantis?

In case you need a refresher, Psycho Mantis was a member of Foxhound a team of highly skilled individuals who decided to take over the island of Shadow Moses. During this time he met with Solid Snake and Meryl Silverburgh, at this time Psycho mantis tried to turn Meryl against snake and even forced her to almost shoot herself in order to exploit her as his weak point. Snake knocked her out and then Psycho Mantis revealed himself, he begins to read Snakes mind and reads the contents of your memory card and moves your controller. After an epic battle Snake defeats him and they have a bit of a conversation, Mantis reveals some details about his past and you can’t help but feel bad for him.
Personally, he was one of my favorite characters in the game and he was brought back in several games giving us more of an insight on his story and how he helped shape some of the events leading to the Shadow Moses incident.
Alas Psycho Mantis is a character owned by Konami and I doubt that he will make his appearance in Death Stranding, (spoiler) specially since it appears Snake Kills him in Shadow Moses, I would like to see him make an appearance, but I doubt he would be included.
