No More Beta News Recap - Thu Dec 21 - Apple Revised Apple Store Guidelines to make "Loot Boxes" more transparent....and keep big brother out
We are starting to feel the ripple effects of the rock EA threw at the water.
Apple announced that they are making a revision of the guidelines for the its App Store.
Apps that offer loot boxes or loot crates pretty much anything that gives you a random virtual item in exchange of money will have to disclose the odds of receiving the item prior to making the purchase.
Games like War Robots, The Simpsons Tapped out, Hearthstone among others will be affected by this.
Now loot boxes are not something mobile gamers have seen pretty much since the start.
The problem comes in the percentage change of getting an very rare in game item in exchange for real money.
Some may consider that gambling. This year has been so insane over the debate of loot boxes and micro transactions. Its crazy to believe that while so many people are against it so many people are for it. Sadly there is a market for things of this sort. I really do miss the days of having to work hard to unlock items.
But if you ask me it is a very smart move on apples side.
If they keep a strict regulation on things like this they avoid regulation from other outside parties. I man I do not like the idea of the little ones thinking gambling is 100%.
I sometimes feel that GamesStop Trade In can teach kids early on about pawning old things.
Its a habit I am very happy I was able to shake.
AJ.
