5 of the most TOXIC Trends to Avoid in 2018!.. - Gaming Top 5 - Part 41.
Trends are those thing that the simple minded among us love but the serious minds here hate.
The 80's was all about the torn jeans, the 90's was the baggy pants and last year it was all about Loot Box Pay to Win crap that destroyed the reputation of some well established companies. But in 2018, there are going to be even more trends, some we may like but others we would avoid like the plague.
So here are 5 gaming trends we should worry about over the next 12 months.
5 – Bad Gaming Ports.
The Nintendo Switch has become hugely popular, so much so it has overtaken the Wii in sales. Because of this little fact, game devs/publishers will want to cash in by making there game available on this little lump of electronic happiness.
Ports can be very hit and miss. When done right, the game is just as good as the original and plays the exact same way with no issues to speak off. But then you get the ports that are just bad. Take a look at the PubG port over to the Xbox One, on the PC PubG runs flawlessly, the ported Xbox game however suffered from some major problems that are, but not limited too, Lag, Frame rate dropping, Morphing into objects and other players, lag, disconnecting randomly, lag, unable to open parachute and major lag due to the naff servers. This is a clear sign that the devs could not be bothered and publishers trying to cash in. lets just hope that the game ports onto the switch are much better.

4 – PubG Rip Offs.
Player Unknown is a massive game with an even bigger following. But with such huge popularity, there are going to be a select few that will use the same formula as PubG to try and take some of that glory for themselves.
There is already a huge number of games on the mobile market that are ''inspired'', and complete rip offs of the PubG game. Some people are even stating that Fortnite Save the World when its released this year is a direct rip off, (hint Fortnite was announced a full year before PubG fools) but there is undoubtedly going to be a huge surge in games available on the Steam Store that will have used the same formula as Battle Grounds has. On the mobile market, there are games that use the same cover art and acronym as the game they are ripping off. It is only a matter of time before we see the same thing that happened on the mobile market, happen to the PC market. There is already a game called ''Battle Grounds'' ready for release next month... so it begins.

3 – Loot Box's.
Why can we not escape the shit that is EA.... I mean, Loot Box's? Last year saw the rise of loot boxes and we also saw how harmful they can be to both gamers and publishers alike.
After the whole debacle with loot boxes and EA's blatant greed, the gaming community as a whole reviewed what loot boxes actually are.. is it legal gambling for under age kids? Is it pay to win? In some games like Rocket league, loot boxes can be used to the games advantage, but after seeing how much money EA actually made from there poisonous system, a lot of developers and publishers jumped on the loot box band wagon and started to implement them into existing games and new releases. For those of us who are serious gamers, we despise any loot box system. And I hope to god that it dies out over the next few months.

2 – Early Access.
As a gamer it is fun to get early access to a new game that could well be the next big thing, usually in the form of a closed Beta test that is. But sometimes early access means more persisting problems and never being finished.
Take a look at DayZ, It was a game/Mod that was open to the public long before it was finished, but a couple of years later and it is no closer to being in open Beta as the only changes that have been made, have been done by the ones who use it on there server. Recently on Steam, there have been a boat load of games pop up with ''Early Access'' as the tag line. And people are falling for it, buying them up despite the fact that they are incomplete games and there is no guarantee that they will ever get finished. This trend of early access is spewing over into the mobile market too and is increasing every day.
A bit of advice would be, stay away from Store based early access, always sign up for closed alpha and beta testing with the game developers. Its free and you can be assured that the game will have a high chance of being finished.

1 – Angry Gamer.
This is a biggy. And its more down to developers and publishers that cause us gamers to get angry with the games we buy.
In recent years, we have seen several cases where games that were supposed to be huge hits turned out to be the total opposite. The biggest of them all was no mans sky, the most expensive game to develop in history. It was supposed to deliver so much, but failed across the board and left thousands of gamers angry. This led to the game developers going back to the drawing board to create updates, patches and bug fixes to turn the game into what they said it would be after apologising publicly.
Then there was the whole loot box issue with EA, a shitty money grab Pay to win system that the majority of gamers hated, EA publicly apologised, but the same system is back with minimum changes.
There is a point when gaming no longer becomes fun but just a money grabbing scheme that leave us upset and angry.
Until the publishers and devs get there arse into gear and actually make games we want to play rather than a way to earn some quick money, then maybe we wouldn't get as angry with them as we are right now.

there are other trends that have already started this year, but non are as toxic to us gamers as the ones in this list. So save yourself some sanity and remember these trends and don't fall into them as so many of us do.

When I was studying in high school, I played Atari, then in college I played Nintendo 64 and the last video game was the Wii.
Excellent your publication because we keep up with the trends in video games and their positive and negative details.
Good luck in all my friend @techmojo
I really really really hate loot boxes!
you and me both buddy.
Thanks for the information
Angry gamer aka #RageQuit @techmojo! #LMBO! That's what I refer to them as.
pretty much. ;)
Yup! Do you have a #favourite game @techmojo?
mostly i'm a single player type of gamer. Alien isolation love the Crysis games, all the hitman and resident evil franchises, play some sins of a solar empire every now and then, multiplayers i play, gtav, star wars/trek online, eve, and few other similar ones. just started playing the metal Gear solid games again, starting with the original 1985 one on emulators, up to Snakes revenge at the mo. working my way through all of them.
Would you ever see yourself getting hooked on #COD @techmojo?
I preferred the Medal of Honer games back in the day. but COD now, they are just boring. same shit different title. think the last time i played any COD game was about a month ago for all of 5 min so i could review it. tend to stick to the games listed above. i will be playing Kojimas new game in q4 this year when its released, it supposed to wipe the floor with all other FPS games out there.
Back in my #gamer days I got to #beta test one of the Medal of Honor games @techmojo! I got to go to #E3 2 years in a row for free and I got to see the whole exhibition and everything. It was really fun experiences!
Thank a lot ) Very interesting post =)
