RE: Anyone know how to make wild grapes taste good?
Are those mustang grapes? If they are, you have to peel the skins off as they are very tart.(acidic enough to chemical burn the inside of your mouth)
The inside is usually sweet.
I can't say one way or another, but it is probably a matter of pH.
Most of the soil here is basic, which is strange to get a high acid fruit like that.
Spiny hackberry berries are the best, but they are almost all seed.
I'm thinking it's mustang. I need to go back and see the leaves and such to make sure, but from the couple of things I've read, the bitter acidity is making me think mustang
