You Can Get Really Great Veggies From Growing in Pots!
This year I grew some tomatoes, serrano peppers, cayanne peppers, basil, and rosemarry in some pots on the patio of my apartment!
I first posted about this a few months ago:

Pretty nice little plants I had growing, I didn't expect much was hoping to maybe get a little bit of veggies after a summers worth of love.
Well here are the results!

Basil's closeup photo-shoot, looking quite sexy if you ask me. Have already made some yummy pesto with these guys twice!
Serrano peppers, they grew really big! I harvested a couple and made some salsa with them, they have a nice level of heat too! Not bad for a pot!
The cayanne peppers! Just starting to turn red!! Really excited to try to use these in some spicy dishes!
Tomatoes, starting to get ripe, cant wait to try one!
And finally as a little secret side project, I tried getting some lemon seeds to grow into lemon trees...
So far so good! Once they get a little bigger, I will pick the best looking two and transplant to a larger pot!
All in all, I am quite proud of how these pot grown plants turned out, all it took was a little bit of sun, a lot of love, and a ton of water and dedication. I'm thinking about expanding further next year!
Anyone have any good recipes I could try to use these veggies in!?

Yeah, I can't live with out fresh herbs in my cooking, and they always taste so much more vibrant when I grow them my self as opposed to store bought!
Just realized how often I use basil in my cooking, cos just looking at the picture brought on the smell! It's like synesthesia, but not the interesting kind musicians get.
Basil is amazing, the sent of it is very soothing to me. Plus I think it tastes great! I even add it to salads... maybe I am weird!
Adding basil to salads is the least weird thing I ever heard! It's customary in Italian and Greek cuisine. It goes everywhere, really. I add it to soups, pasta obviously, you can add it to a jug of water and let it sit a bit and then drink the water like you would regular water, only now it'll be tasty! It's a good thing for people who just don't like drinking plain water (yes, they do exist!) and are maybe a bit dehydrated because of that.
Yep, basil cucumber water man. Yum.
So what happened to the baby lemons? :) Give us an update dammit

I usually try to make my lemon seeds grow into potato trees but I like your approach!
The lemon trees exist, however they remain quite small. Not sure why they havent grown much.
Maybe cause trees grow slowly?make a casual post update, share some photos, not all your posts need to be 2.000 words about science stuff :D

Try to put it up in the next few days. There is rarely outside light when I am home these days.
I have 100 pots, of which 80 are flowers and 20 are for vegetables and leaves. i am also getting beans from my pots.
Very cool, I was thinking about trying to grow some beans, but thought it might be a bit too challenging this year. Sounds like it would be a good next step!

Very encouraging post. I doubt if I would have such good results where I live, however, in the north east of England. Warm and sunny days are raer here!
Perhaps not, you might still have some success with plants requiring less light though! Growing things is a lot of fun, can't hurt to try.

Those look fantastic, especially that basil! I haven't tried to grow hot peppers yet. To be honest, I have been a bit timid about growing them. I have; however, started I believe 10 varieties of tomatoes late in the season. Looking forward to some canning! Looking forward to more of your posts.
Thanks! I actually split my basil once this season so I have a second pot of them growing as well, used rooting powder and things turned out really well. The hot peppers have been surprisingly easy to grow, and the yield from the cayenne is easily over 40 peppers. I would recommend just giving them a go! There is a small pot of oregano in there as well, that has been great for cooking with, but its not a pretty plant, didn't get its own close up.

Of course, that was the plan all along. Just had to wait for these little guys to grow!
