Of days and a garden past
While I don't miss the hassle and expen$e of being a homeowner my wife is right (don't tell her that I said those words) in that I'm not really happy if I don't have a garden. Unfortunately now that we are living in an RV my garden space has been very much "downsized". I guess sometimes you have to find your happiness in the small(er) things/garden.
My garden beds back when I had my house in New England. Almost 20 years of clearing the land and amending the native soil with every conceivable composted material.
PVC hoops and plastic covers made for an earlier start to the season. Plus rich soil allowed me to close crop my plants
Early season greens and carrots. Often got them going under plastic while snow was still on the ground.
Young potatoes. They would grow in wire cages filled with leaves and compost as they grew (vertical gardening)
A colorful mix of lettuce. One of the favorites of the pesky woodchucks
Raised beds by the front door for some nice herbs. Pesto always a favorite of everybody
A big bed of stiff neck garlic. I always had hundreds of bulbs to share with my friends
A mix of lettuce, eggplants and peppers. The season never seemed long enough in New England for those heat-loving plants to really produce well
My little "garden" now, Carolina Reaper and Trinidad Scorpion chiles enjoying a day with sunshine while it lasts before they come back into the RV for a little while longer.

Your RV must be quite crowded with those chillis! I am torn at mo.. a year travelling awaits but darn my garden will be a mess when I get home. Trying to let that anxiety go.

Fortunately the front driver section can house my plants and I can put others in the shower if needed. Not an ideal setup if we have to move to a new spot but we try to stay in one spot for a few months at a time. I really do miss a real house with a big yard and garden sometimes but maybe in a few years we could pick up a cheap piece of land and base a homestead around the RV.
