Escape Plan 2: Hades (film): it's pretty bad but actually kind of fun
I don't think that anyone would be surprised that this movie isn't exactly top drawer. The cast lineup doesn't exactly scream Oscars but these movies can actually be pretty entertaining.
This isn't a prison. It's a machine - I love it!
I don't think i really even need to explain the plot of this one - especially if you are familiar with the first one. Basically it is "Prison Break" but in 2 eye-rolling hours instead of 10 weeks.
I have a really hard time understanding Sylvester Stallone when he speaks. The studios must have felt that between Sylvester and Arnold doing most of the talking in the first movie resulted in far too much understandable dialogue and they wanted to change that. So the brought in Huang Xiaoming. He is a fantastic martial-artist with a "little less than perfect" command of the English language.
And this folks is why I think the movie was ever green-lighted in the first place. Huang Xiaoming is unknown to most people, but he is extremely popular in China. I would be willing to bet that the studios thought if they put him in a film with Sly and Dave Bautista and spent a bit of money on it, that it would go big in Asia.
It went straight to DVD and it definitely deserved to.
But here is how it is fun anyway. I mean, you already know that Stallone and whoever is on his team is going to win. That is a foregone conclusion. What makes the film fun anyway is that it is completely ridiculous. The gun-battles are ludicrous but they are funny because they are so impractical. Of course there is a happenstance meeting with Dave Bautista that results in a shootout - just hilarious.
Inside what is meant to be the world's most secure prison there are doors made of laser-beams but there is also many easily reachable, completely unshielded ceiling ventilation access panels. The prison has robot doctors and I suppose that is supposed to indicate it is in the future, yet the outside world appears to be stuck in 2015.
I found myself laughing a lot, maybe you will too. Unfortunately that was almost certainly not the intent of the producers but hey! It is still fun.
If you can appreciate the fact that this movie is not good unless you are making fun of it and enjoy that sort of thing then watch this. If you are busy and only want to watch good movies - skip this one
Sorry man, no disrespect to Stallone, or the first Escape Plan. The original was a pretty good movie, original, great protagonists, and it kept you on your toes with everything being the opposite of what you expect. Stallone and Schwarzenegger have an excellent, believable chemistry, and it's just a smart, overall enjoyable film.
If you agreed with, or plan on watching the sequel based on the successful attributes of the first one...
Don't waste your time with it, stick to the first, or if you want to watch a good, honorable sequel, try fuckin' "John Wick: Chapter 2", you won't be disappointed.

Very different from the first one, the color grading was really bad like a low budget movie, too much green level, so much VFX, from the fire to gun shot, the ambience light and music was annoying, especially when inside the hades scene, the camera placement is great but lack of good
cinematography, I dont know why, but its like the framing were not great, like you're using a crop sensor so much fill in the frames object, but I still watched it till the end .

i also thought it looked like whoever was doing the dolly work must have been very busy as there are so many scenes shot on tracks while people are doing something non action oriented such as discussing something in an office.
Journalists like such a stitched stamp as "so bad that it's even good," so to "Escape Plan 2" it is not applicable, because Miller is so bad that he can not do very badly - the film stops exactly on the verge of watching it It is impossible, and the spent time is especially pitiful. Alas, at one time we were bribed by a fight, even if not quite real, Schwarzenegger and Stallone, now there is not even this, instead of the "battle of the century" - a shaking camera and clumsy kung fu. The plan in this case, you need only one - exit the cinema in the dark, but beware of the crush, you definitely will not be alone.

Yeah the movie is bad. But i'm a big fan of Sylvester Stallone as always being curious to watch his movie. He is the real iron man.
