Characterization of social psychological schools. Contemporary state of social psychology. /part 6/
Evolutionary social psychology, like psychoanalysis and behaviorism, claims a comprehensive sociopsychological theory. It includes a number of more specific theories and concepts: theory of sexual selection, theory of mutual altruism, concept of adaptive behavior, etc. ; - Social Developmental Psychology - Some modern sociopsychological theories miss the dynamic aspects of sociopsychic phenomena. They rather seek the pragmatic static dimensions of the subject of their research, which can be used for some purpose in actual practice at the moment.
An alternative to these theories is the social developmental psychology. Social developmental psychology is an alternative to socio-cultural theories, which focus more on the transversal social dimension of reality, not on evolutionary and ontogeneous factors, and the social context defines sociopsychic phenomena and processes; - Socio-cultural theories in social psychology - the common basic idea of these theories is that one's thinking, feelings and behavior depend on factors belonging to the social: social origin; of the ethnicity to which it belongs; cultural factors, and others. In short, socio-cultural differences determine to a great extent the peculiarities of human psyche and human behavior. One of the most obvious common trends, which at the same time has its roots since the middle of the 20th century, concerns both the behavioral and the cognitive direction in modern social psychology. This trend is too powerful and has great prospects, especially in the United States.
Less and less scientific attention and effort is devoted to studying human behavior only for oneself; the determinant factors are sought, the role of experience and the previous behavior is sought, the role of social knowledge, etc., is studied. Cognitive processes are conceived as hidden forces driving social behavior. It is a product of free, autonomous decisions taken by the person. Another major trend in the development of modern social psychology is related to the dilemma of "integration or ignorance" characteristic of other sciences at the beginning of the 21st century. The choice of social psychologists is aimed at integrating with other sciences. Therefore, in the most contemporary concepts and studies we can see various components of other sciences: ethics, religious sciences, sociology, ethnography, culture, linguistics and others. The studied sociopsychological phenomena are becoming increasingly complex in nature. European accents in social psychology are in interstructure interactions, while American social psychologists are more attracted to the attitudes and needs of people inside the system, and so on.

In Anthropological parlance what I think you are getting at is that social-psychology is increasingly looking at the 'ethic' influences of 'the group' in order to get to the 'emic' dimensions of the individual.
