    The DOW was expected to drop due to the volatile trading, as well as key stocks such as IBM showing massive losses under investor panic. Netflix may be able to reduce the damage as they just posted third-quarter earnings that easily beat expectations.

    I am primarily a Forex analyst, so gold is not exactly my field. What makes you saying mining equities would rise in relation to decline of the DOW?
