Ready, Set, Launch!
The time to press the button is finally here!
We’ve come a long way. From being one of the first crowdfunded projects, way past the challenges we had to face while navigating the uncharted territory that is building Golem, the time has come to take the big step: mainnet launch is here.
Before we go into further detail, allow us to explain the reason to launch the Beta version of our software onto the mainnet:
Our decision is based on the fact that even though this new stage will expose our project to diverse risks, it is not possible (or responsible) to say a product is finalized without real users.
Brass Beta is here!
Golem is a dApp, and as any other, it required testing through a contained “laboratory”. But in order to progress, we need to get out of this comfort zone, and make sure the elements that we have worked hard, and continue to build, are responsive and working well on a decentralized setting.
The road to mainnet for the Golem team has been a long and eventful one, there are many issues and challenges to tackle, but we are on the right path. We have also undergone a myriad of unforeseen circumstances in these two/three years. Yet the team kept their eye on the ball at all times, understanding that the project, and the complexity that building a marketplace for computations on a decentralized scenario implies, is a monumental goal that can contribute to the shared economy model and the blockchain ecosystem alike. We are deeply thankful, above all, for such a relentless team that never backed down, not even in the most adverse of situations.
The Golem integrated Wallet
Now, to the nitty-gritty. Introducing Golem Brass Beta — and the main net launch!
The Main feature of the new release is the support for the Ethereum mainnet. You can now connect Golem to the Ethereum mainnet and earn/spend real GNT for computations (please remember that you also need a little bit of ETH to make a transaction on the Ethereum blockchain with Golem). This release also contains additional withdrawal functions, bugfixes, and optimizations.
We have been working hard to ensure UX is easy to comprehend to facilitate the adoption of our software
There is a single installation procedure for mainnet and testnet version. To run mainnet start the proper golem app through the blue icon or run golemapp with “ — mainnet” flag (default is testnet).
We strongly recommend everyone to get accustomed to the testnet version first and only go into mainnet after you have understood how the application works, and how to configure parameters for your tasks correctly.
Upgrading to Brass Golem Beta 0.15.0

Our outstanding team — the best asset a project can have
This is a big step for Golem, the team is in high spirits and extremely thrilled about this new stage. We are also aware that this launch will need all of our attention, as it is crucial to monitor everything carefully, to detect issues and deploy fixes.
Prorsum et sursum ad excellentiam. In Latin, this means “forward and upward towards excellence.” We work hard according to this premise, to be able to deliver the product and to contribute to Ethereum in the best way we can. Thank you for accompanying us.
Ps. 1: In case you are wondering, we have launched a Bug Bounty Competition. Click here for the instructions, enjoy the hunt!
Ps. 2 : In coordination with the release of Golem Brass Beta we would like to invite you to visit our new website at golem.network developed and designed in collaboration with The Codeine.
Thanks to Dan Horne.
