Is Graphene About To Change Golfing Forever?

in #golf6 years ago

The global graphene market is expected to surpass the $250 million mark by 2020, possibly reaching around $300 million by 2027.

The market success for graphene has been driven by the promise of new applications for the material and we are seeing it quickly make its way into a number of different industries; from energy storage and fashion, to healthcare, transportation, and beyond.

Graphene can be described as one of the lightest, strongest, and thinnest, materials in the world.

It's more than 100x stronger than steel, but it's also very flexible, stretchable, and nearly transparent. It's also considered to be a very expensive material. Though, in recent years researchers have discovered ways to produce it that are significantly more cost-effective.

There are now a variety of products available on the market that are utilizing this amazing material, you can find things like running shoes, graphene bike helmets, phone charging stickers, headphones, clothing, and a lot more.

Researchers have been using it to try and detect cancer cells, to clean drinking water, and to try and improve solar cell efficiency, among other things.

Whether it's bike helmets, clothing, phone chargers, or car batteries, it's clear that this material is becoming much more prevalent.

And one new exciting prospect for graphene happens to rest in the golf market.

A highly controversial new golf product recently hit the market and it's a golf ball that's been infused with graphene.

Some suggest that the ball could ruin and destroy the game as we know it.

The ball has been marketed as a product that could potentially be a game-changer for someone's golf game. Though, critics say that the golf balls are going to make the sport too easy.

Despite the fear though, some professional golfers are already using them.

For example, Sergio Garcia recently won the Singapore Open tournament and he admitted to using graphene-infused golf balls. Garcia has signed a multiyear endorsement deal with Callaway to use its products.

It's alleged that Garcia averaged at least 19 yards longer by using the new ball, during the recent Singapore Open tournament, compared to his performance in 2017.

The graphene being infused into the golf ball allegedly helps to make the ball much stronger so that the outer core can be reduced and made thinner.

By using the graphene to increase the inner core of the ball, it allegedly increases the ball's speed and helps to reduce the spin on long shots.

If you are interested in purchasing some of the new graphene golf balls, or Chrome Soft balls rather, a pack of 12 costs roughly £38 and they are being sold by the sports giant Callaway.

I think this is going to change the way golfing is done but do you think it will cause problems because competitors ?

That's cool :O!

woah this is scary knowing that these guys already make the sport look easy as it is, and let me tell you from years of experience, golf is no easy game. Imagine Dustin Justin or Bubba Watson hitting a graphene infused ball... these guys hit it 330 yards on average as it is, and if conditions are promising, we've seen them hit it 400+. They either need prep the courses to be harder (longer rough cuts, narrower fairways, more hazards, etc.) or these guys are never going to shoot scores in the green

Wow Graphene golf balls !! its almost like cheating. lol!! though its so cool what this technology is doing , definitely the future is now and its only going to get better and less expensive , I think its awesome ! Thanks for sharing , upped and resteemed !!😀👍👍👍💕

hii @doitvoluntarily, Very informative article sports related, I am also a sports man but did not know much about golf because I play cricket and know about this. I think you are talking about the new technology used in golf balls as made by Graphene. that< amazing addition in market. I am in the favour of this. Thanks friend for updates. My appreciations and support for you.

Latest elements and metals can be lighter and cheaper and tightest. as NASA is also developing some good tech and SpaceX also following for reusable rockets, the world is changing, i hope, for a better. will save too much energy. same goes for Graphene. :-)

Great post...
Thank for sharing....

Writing about graphene on a graphene based social media platform is very disconcerting.

Why don't these golf people just make giant bucky-balls?

The material is amazing. Hopefully more useful and easier to get. I think the material is very useful for other purposes. Thank you for sharing knowledge @doitvoluntarily.

Sir thanks for your information about golf material . Appreciate this, keep giving us update.
