Getty Images and Google agrees for copyright disclaimer of images

in #google7 years ago

A multiyear global licensing partnership has been announced between Getty Images and Google under which Google will be modifying its image search to improve attribution of contributors’ work. According to this agreement, Google will make copyright disclaimers more prominent and remove view image links to the image URL.

It has been two years of a law complaint against Google by Getty Images in European Commission to reach this settlement. Getty accused Google of promoting piracy through high-resolution, copyrighted content and distorting search results in favor of its own services. After partnership, Getty images withdraw its complaint and Google will be able to use Getty Images’ content in its products and services.

This settlement has been achieved after long sessions of conversations between Google, photographers, and publishers. Now both companies will work closely with them to improve attribution of contributors’ work and thereby growing the ecosystem.
