Do not fall short of His grace
Hey guys,
Scripture passage: Hebrews 12:12-24
Meditation: Heb. 12:15 “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”
The God of grace is LOVE. To keep walking in grace, you must understand and keep functioning in His love. 1Jn 4:8,16 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Bitterness is one of those things that is contrary to the love of God. So we are told that if we let it take root in us it will spring up and defile many, thereby causing a grace failure. Jealousy and envy, rebellion and strife are other things that could disconnect us from love and thereby disconnect us from grace. That is, they make grace ineffective in our lives.
Do you want to function maximally in the grace of God? Then keep your heart full of love and free from strife, contention and bitterness. This little price you pay is nothing to be compared to the results of His amazing grace.
Gal 5:3 “For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”
Again we are told here never to attempt, after knowing the truth of our justification by his grace, to seek to go back under the law. Once you hold up any of the law’s demands as your basis for righteousness apart from the price Jesus paid, you are fallen from grace!
2 Cor. 6:1 “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.”
And here: an admonition not to receive the grace of God in vain. He has made grace lavishly available to you. But you have to use what is given. Do not waste it. Let grace produce its maximum fruit in you and through you.
