THE GRAPHIC DESIGN AND ITS ELEMENTS D

It is the process of programming, projecting, coordinating, selecting and organizing a series of elements to produce visual objects destined to communicate specific messages to specific groups. Its main function will be to transmit certain information through graphic compositions, which are sent to the target audience through different media, such as brochures, posters, triptychs, etc.

A definition of the area

The meaning of the term "graphic design" is subject to a long series of interpretations:

*The word design will be used to refer to the process of programming, projecting, coordinating, selecting and organizing a series of factors and elements with a view to the realization of objects destined to produce visual communications. It will also be used in relation to the objects created by that activity. The design verb will be used in relation to the aforementioned process and not as a synonym of drawing, although this action may be part of this process.

• The graphic word qualifies the word design and relates it to the production of visual objects destined to communicate specific messages. Then graphic does not mean Drawings, Engravings, Figures, Graphics or Ornaments, as may be the case in other contexts.

The two words together (graphic design), overflow the sum of their individual meanings and become the name of a profession. In order to propose an initial definition, it can be said that graphic design, seen as an activity, is the action of conceiving, programming, projecting and making visual communications, produced in general by industrial means and intended to transmit specific messages to specific groups. A graphic design is an object created by that activity.

The perception

Before launching the study of the basic elements that we will have to reason when considering the development of design, we should know what are the laws that govern perception. That is, how we see and identify the line, the color, the contour, the texture and environment that things have. If we know how is the process of physical and psychological perception of objects, we can have more elements to influence the recipient of our design work.
All perceptions begin with the eyes, allowing us to have a greater capacity to remember images than words, since the former are more characteristic and, therefore, easier to remember. The perception is conditioned by the learning or previous knowledge that we have of the objects. Our brain has a tendency to locate the elements within the referential parameters that we have built through previous experience or knowledge.
