The "Peter Pan" syndrome. The immaturity of men nowadays with name!!Causes, symptoms and treatment!
Α small reference to a phenomenon that characterizes the male gender but affects the female!
The syndrome of "Peter Pan" refers to people who do not want to feel that they can not grow up, they do not know how to stop being children and become mothers or fathers.
He took his name from the character of the homonymous fairytale by J.M. Barrie. The hero said, "I do not want to be a man anytime. I always want to be a little kid and have fun"!
The eternal teenager!
The syndrome was reported by Dan Kiley in 1983 for the first time describing the people who have remained astute in adolescence, who feel they are trapped in the body of a minor.
It has not yet been officially recognized that E.O.F does not push it into psychological disturbances.
The phenomenon is more pronounced in the minds of the two sexes.
Kiley also used the term "Wendy" to describe women who act as mothers with their associates or the people who are close to them.
Wendy is the woman behind "Peter Pan". She takes every decision and assumes the responsibilities of her partner, thus justifying her credibility.
The main characteristics of the person in this situation are the dynamism he possesses, he is easily loved by his surroundings, he is highly self-esteemed, he has emphasis on goodwill, depends on others and is weak in his commitment. The behavior of the person with this syndrome has difficulty in expressing emotions, finds it difficult to recognize up to what he feels.
Because they do not change their daily lives and are grievously difficult to come to marriage. These people do not want or can not take on the obligations that correspond to adults. Their relationships are superficial and on-duty. They are usually looking for newer people who can greater ease to impress and not to require engagement. They are nervous, worried, and have difficulty adapting to the workplace and constantly change partners.
These people usually come from overprotecting parents and oppressive families who do not let them face the sad reality.
They are trapped with emotional feelings of a young child in adulthood. The emotions are expressed differently: the anger can manifest itself as a hysterical, the sadness as a disabling illness and the frustration expressed through self-healing.
We can protect the children by showing them that all feelings are acceptable: sadness, anger, fear and harshness. We have to learn them that real life has not only happy and unforgiving moments, but is most unpleasant mostly.
To learn how to behave according to their age and to assume the corresponding responsibilities.
The biggest problem of this disruption is the indifference of the person for the existence of the problem.
Most people who have a syndrome are not aware of the symptoms of the disorder they are in. Treatment is more effective when the person himself recognizes problematic behavior and is willing to change it.
Given that"Peter Pan" syndrome has not been recognized as a psychological disorder, there are no key therapies for the patient himself. Psychotherapy would be the one suggested for the patient's environment, his family environment.
However, it is still a psychological issue. The right values and the right education are important and the children must have proper people as models.
Like all of us are surrounded by "Peter Pan's",we can help them without becoming "Wendy": strengthen their positive attributes to mature, show confidence and let them take on some responsibilities leaving them the margin of choice.
