Team Gridcoin on BOINC - RAC Update

Team Gridcoin is maintaining a strong presence on the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) leaderboards.

At the suggestion of @parejan, this data shows the Recent Average Credit (RAC) earned from crunching on BOINC without Bitcoin Utopia / ASIC affecting the numbers. The two sources used are Free-DC (https://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=boincteamsb) and BOINCstats (https://boincstats.com/en/stats/-5/team/list/16/0/0).

To better understand the fluctuations in Team Gridcoin's RAC, this chart tracks the sums of other teams to have a comparison. Each thin black line corresponds to the sum of competing BOINC teams, as ranked by RAC. For example, “Σ Teams 2nd - 10th” on the bottom adds up the RAC of the next best nine teams in second through tenth place); “Σ Teams 2nd - 65th” on the top is a total of the next biggest 64 teams' collective RAC. These sums are taken in increments of five teams, and alternating bands are colorized for visual clarity. By using the sums of other leading teams as a baseline, any network-wide fluctuations in RAC can be understood.

This method can show the recent growth in Gridcoin computing power, as the team has moved up in position through the bands on this chart. For example, in April 2018, Team Gridcoin had a RAC with a magnitude somewhere between that of the next 25 to 30 leading teams; by August 25, 2018, it had expanded to be on par with the next 38 teams combined.

Data was not collected from mid-April to mid-June 2018, hence the dashed line for that period.

I had last posted about this in March 2018 (https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@grwd/team-gridcoin-holding-3rd-place-rac-on-boinc), and to build upon that, here's one more chart.

Though I had been using a different data source, the RAC numbers for Team Gridcoin track closely enough to be useful. While this chart cannot show other teams during that time period, it can show the change over time for Team Gridcoin.
