Thanks, but this is why we are a republic, not a democracy:) We're not ruled by opinion, but law and the Second Amendment is law:)

The constitution is a living document and its amendments have been added to better reflect the realities of the time and when there was a need to make an adjustment based on unforeseen circumstances. I and most other people in the US believe that if the forefathers had considered the styles of weapons available today for consumer use, there would have been different wording in the document. This one amendment seems to as it is trying to be interpreted by so many step on rights rather than grant them. I am not an anti-gun person but I am a sensible legislation person around any topic. Right now the US has a gun problem and it is the only first world country with one. that is a fact. We can either deny it and let many people continue to die needlessly over the fear of something that has never happened in a first world country or save lives. You may not see it but we had a similar issue around cigarettes. The argument was made about taking away people's freedoms and where it would lead. The truth is that we need to be proactive and move based on good common sense not fear. Fear makes you defend things that are non-sensible. What happens as a result is your worst fear gets realized. The tone of things is changing and guns are being examined closely. Change will happen. We have heard what the next generation thinks about guns, So it will either happen now or later. Just like legalizing marijuana. Gonna happen. Thanks.

The issue is not fear David. the issue is learning from history concerning tyrants, and no, you have zero evidence the founders thought as you did. They thought the opposite and you can't provide a shred of evidence to the contrary. perhaps using your logic, they would have not allowed the internet for the press or you to type on a computer rather than using a feather and ink. perhaps they would have allowed troops to take over your home or other things. But RIGHTS come from God, as they stated in the Declaration of Independence and as such they are unalienable, which means they cannot be take and you can't give them up. Big difference and rights, even though the right to keep and bear arms is protected in the Constitution. The us has the highest gun ownership but isn't even in the top 100 countries as far as murder. The facts just are not on your side David. We don't have a gun problem. We have a criminal problem.

The Constitution doesn't grant rights, it protects them. God gives rights, David, not the government. If you actually understood the founders, you would know this, but you are demonstrating ignorance here.

There are over 100 million people with over 300 million guns in America. Trust me, if we or guns were the problem, you'd know it, but that isn't the case.

Cigarettes are not a right and my guns have never killed anyone, so you are comparing apples and oranges. Good common sense would be to train and arm yourself, not infringe on the rights of others.

What is we cut off first amendment writes because people write ignorant things like you are writing? I don't mean that to blast you, just to say it's so clear you've never read the federalist papers or the anti-federalist papers and don't have a good grasp of the history behind the Second Amendment, nor the millions of people killed by their governments in the 20th century alone all because they were disarmed.

"We have heard what the next generation thinks about guns, So it will either happen now or later. Just like legalizing marijuana. Gonna happen. Thanks."

Tremendous difference. I'm fine with legalizing marijuana and so were the founders. I don't care what a few kids in florida think. Fortunately, you have to have 3/4 of the states to amend the Constitution and that isn't happening anytime soon and if they do, those of use with guns aren't giving them up because unlike those who are against them, we know what comes next.
