Indeed leftists are in a hurry to paint all mentally ill people with a broad brush, Obama even attempted to strip them of their gun rights without due process as a class. But of course they are just perpetuating a dangerous stigma, in reality mentally ill people are more likely to be victims. Only people who are mentally ill AND dangerous need to have their rights restricted. In general everyone around them knows who these people are and are not surprised when they shoot up the school, they have usually been threatening to do so for years.
