The issue is not fear David. the issue is learning from history concerning tyrants, and no, you have zero evidence the founders thought as you did. They thought the opposite and you can't provide a shred of evidence to the contrary. perhaps using your logic, they would have not allowed the internet for the press or you to type on a computer rather than using a feather and ink. perhaps they would have allowed troops to take over your home or other things. But RIGHTS come from God, as they stated in the Declaration of Independence and as such they are unalienable, which means they cannot be take and you can't give them up. Big difference and rights, even though the right to keep and bear arms is protected in the Constitution. The us has the highest gun ownership but isn't even in the top 100 countries as far as murder.
