Sthulapushpa in my garden
If you are wondering what sthulapushpa is, then fret not, it is our very own Marigold. Sthulapushpa Is a Sanskrit work for Marigold. The bright orange gold colour of Marigold truly makes our day beautiful. I just could not resist myself from posting this beautiful flower that bloomed near my house's entrance the other day.
Marigolds are also known as 'genda phool' in Hindi. These bright orange flowers are very important part of our religious rituals. We love offering these flowers to our God and goddesses and it is a part of every festival in every household in the country. We tie a Garland of these flowers on the frame of our main door because it is auspicious or may be because it wards off insects. Yes, marigolds are known for it's insect repellent properties. Keep some marigolds in your living area and you'll notice the difference.
