Mark Aurel, also Marcus Aurel or Marcus Aurelius, was Roman emperor from 161 to 180.
His charisma, which continued throughout the historical epochs, is based above all on the image of the "philosopher on the throne".
His self-portrayal can easily be taken from his writings for self-reflection. Much of it seems timeless and still topical. Much of it revolves around freedom, justice and equality.
