So The Guy Comes Out With a Hatchet
I went to look at a house that is going to the foreclosure auction the next day. Oftentimes, if the homeowner has moved out, the foreclosing lender sends guys out to change the locks and secure the property. They put little stickers on the door saying this property is vacant. I knocked on the door, and no one answered. I couldn't see in the windows. The little sticker was there telling me the house was vacant, so I tried to open the front door.
It was unlocked, which is a little bit strange, but it didn't open, and it felt as if there was something jamming the door preventing it from opening. So, I walked around the side of the house to go to the back door, and these two little dogs start yapping, which was a surprise, because the house looked abandoned, and there was that little sticker.
I waited at the side of the house, hoping whoever was in there would come out and I could talk to them. The guy comes around from the back door, and I noticed he's carrying a hatchet. It looked like a small ax. My life flashed before my eyes. I just told him that the house is going to foreclosure, and he said, "I'm the homeowner, would you like to look around inside?" I said I would like to, and he showed me all around.
I decided it needed too much work, and I wasn't interested, but that is the first time I've ever been greeted by someone with a weapon.
