Being able to manage inflammation can keep the health in good shape because many health challenges like; autoimmune disorder, heart disease and cancer are associated with chronic inflammation which is very dangerous.

I will explain what inflammation means, its types, causes and how it can be treated.

Understanding the Word; Inflammation

Inflammation is among the immune system defense mechanism that is structured to completely remove damaged cells, cause of cell injury and begin the process of tissue repair. In other words, when the body response to harmful stimuli, injury, infection or send cells to fight against foreign body like pathogens, it means that inflammation is taking place in the body.

Inflammation has its advantages which includes; healing, repair, removal of harmful agents ( damaged cells, toxins and pathogens) but when it becomes uncontrollable or chronic, the disadvantages will step in which includes; pains, tissue damage, discomfort and chronic diseases

Inflammation has two main types which are acute and chronic.

Difference between the two types of inflammation

Acute inflammation is temporary, it doesn't last for long, a person will only experience the following signs for the main time; swelling, loss of function, pain, heat and redness.Chronic inflammation can be prolonged and it goes on from months up to years which might likely expose the body to different kinds of diseases like; joint disease, allergies, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Causes of Inflammation

Both internal and external body can cause inflammation and it can start from infection, toxins, injury and also from immune system reaction. Once the body sense strange things or get exposed to an unhealthy environment, it can cause inflammation.

How to Treat Inflammation

Inflammation are of two types which I mentioned and stated the difference. The first one ( acute inflammation) can heal naturally because it is part of the body's natural healing repair or if it last for days, pain relief or an anti-inflammatory medication can work. The second type of inflammation ( chronic) is more serious which is why I would advise anyone experiencing it to visit a doctor.

Here are other tips to reduce or hinder inflammation;

  • Eat fresh vegetables, more of fruits (mostly pineapple, ginger and apple), nuts and avoid inflammatory foods
  • Learning to manage your stress and rest when necessary
  • Regular exercise will be helpful
  • Don't be overweight
  • Control your blood sugar by limiting the intake of simple carbohydrates ( white rice and flour and refined sugar).

Since the immune system is capable of recognizing and getting rid of harmful agents that might likely cause inflammation, it is up to us to keep our body safe and healthy by avoiding intake of harmful foods. Hygiene is very important, let’s try to be neat always and also avoid exposing the body to harmful environment. Thank you for reading through!
