According to a Harvard study, using EPA data from 2013 to 2015, toxic chemicals linked with cancer and other health problems — polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) — exceed federally recommended limits. in the supplies for 6 million people in the United States.
PFAs have been linked with cancer, hormone disruption, high cholesterol, and obesity.

About 2/3 of the population in the US has fluoride added to their water. The current rule (from 2015) is0.7 milligrams of fluoride per liter of water. Fluoride may help tooth decay.
However, the Fluoride Action Networks lists many studies that link fluoride to bone fractures, thyroid disorder, and impaired brain development and function.
Another study from 2012 in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives found a link between high levels of fluoride and lower IQs in children. The paper looked at the results of 27 different studies, 26 of which found a link between high-fluoride drinking water and lower IQ. The difference was 7 IQ points.
Chlorine:
While chlorine is meant to clean drinking water, it also had adverse affects. One study showed an increase in bladder cancer, particularly in men, with chlorinated water.
