Dear Diary: It's My Father's Checkup Today

Last Monday evening until morning my father suffered a hypertensive crisis which made him so dizzy and went wobbly as he walked. My father didn't tell us about it and my mother only noticed his unusual situation when he started to walk and father told her that he was dizzy.

Upon our investigation he ate a lot of packaged peanut a day before and it was the type that is very salty indeed because the peanuts came with a barbecue flavor. Salty foods are forbidden to most people actually especially for hypertension patients because the salt makes the circulatory system take water from the cells of the body just to balance the natural salt-water ratio and it adds volume to the circulatory system and thus straining the heart making it to pump harder for the added burden of volume it has to circulate.

But my father seems to not look at this factor nor he is aware of it. He feels that restrictions are not for him and only believes that he should only not to eat high cholesterol foods. If my mother tells him not to add or use fish sauce as a dip he just adds more and does the opposite so this situation had gone hard for a hard-headed person like my father.

I don't think he would change his diet though because his taste buds are already corrupted with salty taste. I think he can only be persuaded to do some drastic change if he was only forced to do it and nothing more. This is why we should train our eating habits at a young age by teaching our children how to eat right for the salke of a better well-being free from sickness and many food-caused ailments.

very bad filling to your, father, we are pray both of you get well soon, and keep healthy

Hola hijo.

Hopefully your father can accept that he must change his diet so that he can heal. Regards!

Training from a young age really matters because as soon as the body adapt to something it really hard to unadapt from it.

Nice post and hope your father is sick free now

U will have to chnage his diet- restrict salt intake and consult doc and stick to doc advice.

May everything go well my dear friend. Force

I have always admired his willpower and to continue living. You really are a tough guy

Many people are stubborn but ask God to understand that your mother's requests are for her good and her health.

Some people just choose not to listen. I hope his check-up goes well. You should lecture hm about high blood pressure and how it is terrible for his kidneys!
