RE: Get Government Out Of Breastfeeding

in #health7 years ago

The term "Lactation Consultants" is quite funny for me because it is just natural for mothers to feed their child and a doctor can just simply educate the nursing mothers what to do. But they have to do this kind of burden for those mothers.

Sort:

yeah i hadn't heard about that one until recently 😂

"These consultants could be off-duty nurses, nutritionists, or experienced mothers etc,"
"These consultants might help with issues such as mothers experiencing pain while breastfeeding, latching issues, low production, and more. "
So you think it's just natural for a mother to feed their child and have all this knowledge as soon as they give birth? Like, have a baby, them BOOM you're an expert and naturally know how to care for your babies every need? I wonder if you think "optometrist" is quite funny because it's natural for people to have eyes and a doctor can simply educate people about them.

Out of curiousity, are you a guy? And young? It's very typical of someone not in a certain group to say how 'natural' or easy something is to do. I broke a finger a few years back and you'd think it's natural to move your hand and the doctor could just educate me, but nope, I had to have hand therapy for months because what should have been natural, wasn't. And I've heard people who have never been addicted to anything say that meth users should just quit because it's easy. It's easy to make judgements and assumptions about something you yourself have never experienced.

Oh, and you also assume that a doctor, a General Practitioner, will know all there is to know about the human body to educate people. They don't. I can't speak for a GP's knowledge about babies and mothers but I do know that when it comes to psychological issues most GP's are honestly pretty darn clueless about how the mind really works, but they're great at pushing the 'chemical imbalance' lie and writing a script for the latest blockbuster brand name psychiatric drug after the sexy sales rep offered kickbacks and bribes if the GP sold more drugs regardless of the patients actual issues.
