Living with Scoliosis
What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a disorder in which there is a sideways curve of the spine. Curves are often S-shaped or C-shaped. In most people, there is no known cause for this curve. People with milder curves may only need to visit their doctor for regular check-ups. Some people who have scoliosis need treatment. My spine is S shape.
Who gets Scoliosis?
People of all ages can have scoliosis. My Scoliosis started developing at a tender age of 16 when i did a ex-ray and found out that my spine was slightly curve however, the doctor gave my family two choices, to do a surgery as soon as possible or wait to see it gets any worst but really we only had one choice because my family was poor and we was told at the moment that scoliosis surgery was very expensive. At the time of developing scoliosis, i did some research and found out that the disorder most common type has no known cause and occurs in children age 10 to 12 and in their early teens. And that girls are more likely than boys to have this type of scoliosis.
What are the symptoms?
*Uneven shoulders.
*Some people may feel pain on one side of their body occasionally.
*Head that is not centered.
*Some people may have short of breath due to the disorder.
*Sides of the body are not level with each other.
*One side of the rib cage is higher than the other when bending forward.
Scoliosis is a very hard type of disorder to live with base on various reasons, to some people scoliosis may be a gift or a curse, never be too quick to judge someone.
