THE RICH POLITICIAN AND THE POOR WOMAN (A true story🤱)
THE RICH POLITICIAN AND THE POOR WOMAN
(A true story🤱)
After four years at the university and 12 months of national service, Kofi had the opportunity to join the communication team of a renowned political party due to his communication skills, versatility, fluency and the ability to "pull" crowds and catch attention.
At the age of 24, he had established himself well in the political firm with his background in technology where he aid all the "big men" on how to affect change with the internet.
Born as the only boy in the family to the late pupil teacher (known as "Teacher Efo" ) and one beautiful lady currently a drawer of woods to many chop bars across the village of somewhere in Africa.
Madam Akosua, narrated her own story:
"My husband died in a car crush on his way home from a congress he attended in the city. My Husband left home happily with the usual kiss on my belly after 6 months of my unborn child Kofi. Only to come home was his mortal remains for burial " (The woman paused for a while, I realised she was absurd).
"After few months, I had to struggle to cater for my son, drawing from, food, cloths, sanitary goods and later school fees. I had no choice to sell all my jewellery my late mother left for me to see my child's dream come true. Which I did! (She squeezed).
On the day of delivery, I developed a medical condition which the doctors told me is an ~Obstetric fistula~ a medical condition in which a hole develops in the birth canal as a result of childbirth.
After suffering from all the shame (social stigma) the condition brought to me, my child Kofi left to the city in one night. I woke up to call him from his room all to notice he's nowhere to be found. Several days after his dismiss from the house with the help of others to search for him was to no avail.
After a decade in this wood business, I had the opportunity to serve in a restaurant on the streets of the city. One hot Sunday, where our mistress had to allow us take some break after all the "hard works", in her mansion full of luxury.
I noticed a handsome looking man coming from one of the rooms where the mistresses' beautiful daughter usually sleeps.
Like a smoke from the fire and tears from the eyes I noticed my boy is now a big man with expensive coats and watches glittering from afar just like the sun rays striking the glass prism.
I lamented Kofi, Kofi, Kofi, this is your mum, your only mum, I've been searching for you for the past decade, where have you been, come on my boy, you look so handsome!!! Kofi looking straight into my eyes, said nothing than to order his guards to drove off.
In fact, tears dropped, memories were recounted, pains extended and I had no chance than to keep it to myself in a shameful manner".
Due to the pain and the mood of Madam Akosua, she had to stop and ask me to share to the whole world how she just lost his child on the condition, Obstetric fistula.
👉Today:
International Day To End Obstetric fistula.
🛑Background
Obstetric fistula is a medical condition in which a hole develops in the birth canal as a result of childbirth. This can be between the vagina and rectum, ureter, or bladder. It can result in incontinence of urine or feces. Complications may include depression, infertility, social isolation, and poverty.
🛑Causes of Obstetric Fistula
The main cause of obstetric fistula is a prolonged, obstructed and unaided labor. The baby’s head places too much pressure on the interior of the vagina and blocks the blood flow, weakening the tissue. If labor goes unaided, the baby’s head can tear the wall and this further stalls the progression of labor and delivery of the baby. If left too long, the baby can die during the birth process, as well as the mother.
🛑Symptoms of Obstetric Fistula
The symptoms of obstetric fistula generally follow the actual injury that occurs during prolonged childbirth and include:
⚫Hole between the vagina and rectum
⚫Further prolonged labor (baby’s head gets caught up in the tear)
⚫Fetal or maternal death during labor
⚫Incontinence of urine and/or feces
⚫Foul Odor
⚫Infertility
⚫Nerve damage/paralysis
⚫Infection
⚫Sexual dysfunction
🛑Conclusion
Not only is obstetrical fistula a dangerous condition for both mothers and unborn infants, it is also a serious social concern. There are many groups that are now gearing up to assist with medical care of pregnant and laboring women. It starts from providing adequate nutrition for children to ensure proper development, providing prenatal care as early as possible for pregnant women and watching over the delivery of infants to ensure shorter and safer labors.
The focus is now on providing health care workers to underdeveloped countries that can recognize the signs and symptoms of this condition and intervene as early as possible. With proper care and treatment, obstetrical fistulas and their complications can be avoided.
