in #health8 years ago

The cigarette is consumed by millions of people all over the world, some consume less, while some even consume packets of cigarettes in a day, we call them chain smokers, our knowledge about how bad smoking tobacco is raising daily. Still, over millions of people are addicted to this. Views about smoking differ from person to person, some hate it while some love it. Even though we are aware of the fact that smoking is not good for health as it causes lung cancer, it has become a trend for the younger generation. We come across many young boys and girls smoking in public places, the percentage of women smokers is also on a rise which is not good for our society. Strict action needs to be taken to put control on smoking. You cannot force one to stop smoking, but at least we can try.

Today we are living in a world of technology, we see many changes around us, though these changes may bring about advantages as well as disadvantages. One such invention is e-cigarette or electronic cigarette. It is a device with batteries which can help inhaling nicotine under the form of vapors. E-cigarette was first designed in order to create a taste and sensation similar to the classic cigar.

Electronic cigarettes are made to look-a-like the real cigarettes and the old fashioned pipes. The idea of an electronic cigar was created in 1963 by Herbert Gilbert but his idea didn’t make it to the factory. In 2006 the pharmacist Hon Lik invented and started manufacturing the electronic cigar. Since 2007 the e-cigarettes have reached every corner of the world. There have been no casualties reported so far or any problems occurring from inhaling the e-cigarettes, as a result, it is considered less harmful when compared to the regular cigarettes as it consists of liquids or flavored juices which are inhaled after heating.
Although, World Health Organisations, confirms that there are not enough data in order to make sure that the e-cigarettes are efficient in helping people quit smoking. In the same time, WHO forbids using e-cigarettes in tight spaces because their use may contain toxic vapors.

The liquid used by the e-cigars are:

  • Vegetable glycerin which is a liquid obtained from plants used in the composition of a lot of products. This is the liquid that produces the “vapors” in the e-cigars, the higher the quantity the higher the “vapors”
  • Propylene glycol is a transparent liquid with no taste and is charged with intensifying the taste in e-cigar.

To conclude, as said, smoking is injurious to health, but with e-cigarettes, which are considered less harmful may have certain disadvantages too. The e-cigarette is not cent percentage safe, but it is just an alternative to smoking tobacco. By consuming e-cigarette, the smoke does not get to your lungs is the only advantage, In regular cigarette, we inhale a large amount of carbon monoxide, but both contain nicotine which is not good for our health. The addiction to nicotine will not disappear quickly, therefore it hard for a habitual smoker to quit smoking, but with the invention of e-cigarette there is the possibility of inhaling a low quantity of nicotine which to some extent is better than the regular cigarette.

Agree with you 100%, My Friend!

It's disheartening to see the persistent prevalence of smoking despite the growing awareness of its severe health risks. Agreeably, opinions on smoking vary widely. Transitioning to a more positive alternative, I've found that modern electronic cigarettes can be a noteworthy consideration. Personally, exploring e-cigarettes has been enlightening. They offer a potential middle ground for those seeking alternatives. If you're curious to try, numerous interesting devices are available online, for example this page offers competitive prices. While addressing the larger issue of smoking requires societal efforts, embracing harm reduction tools like e-cigarettes might be a step toward a healthier future.
