The War On Salt And Why You Need It

in #health6 years ago (edited)

There's been a war on salt for years. We've been told that we should minimize our consumption of salt to prevent a variety of health problems. But in reality our body functions like a battery and we need salt for it to function properly.

Sodium is an essential nutrient but is something that the body cannot produce itself. It plays a vital role in the regulation of many bodily functions and is contained in body fluids that transport oxygen and nutrients. It is also essential in maintaining the body’s overall fluid balance.

To survive everyone needs to consume Sodium regularly. It is a principal component of a person’s internal environment – the extracelluar fluid. Nutrients reach your body’s cells through these fluids. Sodium facilitates many bodily functions including fluid volume and acid-base balance. source

An adult human body contains about 250g of salt and any excess is naturally excreted by the body.

Sodium enables the transmission of nerve impulses around the body. It is an electrolyte, like Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium; it regulates the electrical charges moving in and out of the cells in the body. It controls your taste, smell and tactile processes. The presence of Sodium ions is essential for the contraction of muscles, including that largest and most important muscle, the heart. It is fundamental to the operation of signals to and from the brain. Without sufficient sodium your senses would be dulled and your nerves would not function.

Your body actually produces electricity and that's what allows your cells to communicate and perform basic biological functions necessary for your survival.

Your cells generate electrical charges by electrolytes like sodium and potassium using a mechanism known as the sodium-potassium gate.

source

In the neuron, there are many such gates, including sodium gates and potassium gates. Both of these respond to positive-negative balance changes. ... The best examples are the sodium-potassium pumps on the neuron's membranes. These pumps push sodium ions out of the cell, and potassium ions (K+) into the cell. source

When you combine this with grounding you can harness the electrical charge of the earth to positively influence your health in many ways. Grounding has been shown to help relieve pain, reduce inflammation, improve sleep, reduce stress, enhances well-being, and much more with effects happening almost immediately.

Our bodies actually generate electricity and this is what allows your nervous system to send signals to and from your brain. Electrical charges delivered from cell to cell happen instantaniusly.

It can control your circadian rhythm and even your biological clock. Without electricity you cannot survive. It is essential to being your best mentally, physically, and spiritually. Salt is vital for you to function at your best.

I want to stress that I'm not talking about table salt which has been stripped of all it's vital minerals and has lost it's natural balance. The good kind of salt, pink Himalayan salt, or sea salt, contains numerous trace minerals that helps maintain balance in the body when it's consumed.

Not only are our bodies like a battery but we are literally a walking ocean. We have over 17-gallons of saltwater solution contained in our body. Salt is absolutely mandatory for human survival and bodily functions. Salt is what hold the entire human body together. Without it we would evaporate up into the heavens.

Plasma, blood, sweat, tears, and arteries all contain salt. Not only does this help homeostasis within the body but it also delivers minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, and zinc.

Ye are the salt of the Earth: But if salt has lost it's savior, where shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden underfoot of men - Jesus Christ

Having too little salt makes you more susceptible to disease. When the body falls out of homeostasis and loses its saltiness we are more prone to disease. Pathogens and parasites that enter the body cannot survive in the bodies ideal salt state.

If you're someone who doesn't believe in auto-immune disorders here's another take on it. A cellular dehydrated body, without salt, our cells are unable to properly hydrate themselves. Cells need salt and water in order to properly take in water to hydrate themselves. This allows detoxification of the body. A low salt diet and over consumption of water is a recipe for disaster because we need salt in conjunction with quality water in order to maintain the body's preferred salt solution.

source

When cells become dehydrated they do not function properly. The rise in autoimmune diseases can be attributed to the lack of proper cell function due to improper hydration which does not take into account the vital importance of adding mineral-rich salt to our diets.

Your body is literally an electric machine that produces enough electricity to power a moderately used smartphone. If even a small amount of that power could be siphoned our bodies could be used, in theory, to run any number of small electrical devices.

Once again, we're talking about mineral-rich salt, not table salt which is not only stripped of minerals and bleached but also sometimes contains additives.

Sole water (pronounced Solay) helps the body to detox unwanted toxins and pathogens by helping to improve hydration and absorption of nutrients. Salt is antibacterial and assists in removing bacteria from the body. It can help improve your energy levels, stabilize your blood sugar levels, and prevents hair from falling out.

How to Make Sole – Because Salt is Good for You

To make sole you will need:

  • A glass jar
  • Healthy unrefined salt either ground or in chunks (I use this one though my salt had way bigger chunks)
  • A plastic lid(not metal or your sole will turn black and acrid tasting)
  • A non-metallic utensil for stirring (like a clean chopstick)
  • A wooden or plastic spoon for making your sole drink each morning

Loving Preparation- How to Make Sole

  1. Fill a clean glass jar ¼ of the way up with your healthy salt of choice
  2. Fill the rest of the jar will clean filtered water and stir with a non-metallic utensil
  3. Let the sole sit overnight
  4. Check the sole in the morning. If there is salt at the bottom of the jar then the sole is perfect! If there is no salt at the bottom add more salt until it stops dissolving completely. No need to stir or shake the jar once this happens
  5. Once you’re sure that no more salt can dissolve (there will be a layer of salt at the bottom), take 1 tsp of sole mixed in room temperature water upon rising- that’s all you need!
  6. Wait 20 minutes before eating or drinking anything else
  7. Keep refilling the jar with water and healthy salt as it runs low. source

I really encourage you guys to incorporate more salt into your body and if you have the opportunity to be anywhere near the ocean I would highly suggest to swim in it.

Do not drink ocean water though as it will dehydrate. I know that sounds counterintuitive but the body has its own process of using fresh water and mineralized salt that you ingest to create the balance it need to function properly.

very interesting and helpful article 👍 I always try to eat less salt but it's do hard since its in almost everything! have a great day, GREETINGS!

We need to eat more salt, not less, but real, complete salt. That is what this post is about.

I would personally have to do more research into the science end of things, BUT, in all honesty, it wouldn’t be the first time the medical community has mistreated our bodies...! People have high blood pressure and are immediately out on a low salt diet. What if the salt was not the issue? What if it was other lifestyle factors — job stress, not getting enough sleep, etc — but we’re just too lazy to actually change our lives and just want a pill or something to fix it.

I can see it happening.
