Why Your Malaria Is Not Going Away
Why Your Malaria Is Not Going Away
Malaria is one of the most common illnesses in Nigeria, yet many people keep treating it over and over again without getting better.
As a health technician, I see this almost every day. People come back complaining:
"I’ve treated malaria, but it’s still there."
Today, I’ll explain why your malaria may not be going away and the mistakes you need to avoid.
1. You Didn’t Confirm It Was Malaria
Not every fever is malaria
Many illnesses (like typhoid or infections) have similar symptoms. Treating malaria without testing can mean you’re treating the wrong sickness.
Always try to confirm with a test before taking drugs .
2. You Didn’t Complete Your Drugs
Once you feel better, you stop taking your medication.
This is a big mistake.
Malaria parasites may still be in your body, and stopping early allows them to come back stronger.
3. You Bought Fake or Substandard Drugs
Unfortunately, fake drugs exist.
If the medication is not effective, your malaria will not clear completely.
Always buy from trusted pharmacies .
4. You Are Using the Wrong Drugs
Some people still use outdated or ineffective treatments.
Malaria treatment has changed, and using the wrong medication may not cure the infection.
Always ask a qualified pharmacist or doctor .
5. You Keep Getting Reinfected
Even after treatment, mosquito bites can infect you again.
If you don’t:
- Use mosquito nets
- Keep your environment clean
You may keep getting malaria repeatedly.
To truly get rid of malaria:
- Confirm with a test
- Use the correct medication
- Complete your dosage
- Prevent mosquito bites
