WHY YOU DO NEED TO HAVE A MASSAGE.

Why do you need a massage? I can give you several reasons. For one we all or rather most of us do experience everyday life’s stress such as work, taking care of kids, the home front or even taking care of our business.

This every day activities if l must admit can be very daunting. For those of us who also have aged parents, dependents or relatives to care for we all often wonder how we get by daily.

It’s not easy; it never has been. Some people are more fortunate than others; that is life; but for others who hardly have people to assist as often as they want it can be very overwhelming. Now what do you do in situations like this especially if you are a woman caring and taking care of people and business? You take care of yourself first of course. It is always important to always put yourself first in a lot of things.

I mean the way women have been brought up to always be the giver, care giver and nurturer and to always think of others first is not the best. Think of yourself first. Yes l said it; be a little selfish. Try to make out time to unwind and reconnect with your body and soul. How to you achieve this? One of the ways is to make out time to pamper is through a good massage.

I cannot over emphasize how beneficial a good massage is. It does wonders for you, It helps you to unwind, relieves the huge amount of tension that has been built up in your body over the period and it takes away that terrible monster called STRESS.

Massage is very good for you, l cannot just explain it. Since l realized its huge benefits, I do try to get one at least twice a month. It helps me deal with those days when l feel like l can’t cope any longer. I enjoy a Swedish massage because its gentle and it helps to energize me.

For those who don’t know a Massage is simply the term used for rubbing and pressing the skin, muscles, ligaments and tendons through the use of hands and fingers. Some massage therapist may also adopt the use of forearms, elbows, and sometimes even the feet. Massages range from light stroking to deep pressure depending on the type.

We have the Swedish massage which is the gentle form of massage, we also have the Deep massage which uses more forceful strokes, the Sports massage which shares similarities with the Swedish except it is used for people engaged in sports to relieve injuries and also we have the Trigger point massages which are used when the muscles are injured.

It is important to note that Massage are only an alternative form of medicine and are just to complement the standard treatment being undergone by an individual. You don't need any special preparation for massage.

Before a massage therapy session starts, your massage therapist should ask you about any symptoms, your medical history and what you're hoping to get out of massage. Your massage therapist should explain the kind of massage and techniques he or she will use.

A massage is meant to be enjoyed, if you feel pain or uncomfortable when undergoing one it is important that you inform the massage therapist.

During a massage session you may undress or wear a loose fitting outfit. Remember to only undress to the point where you feel comfortable. You are to lie down on a table with a sheet covering you while you are being massaged and only the areas to be massaged will be exposed.

Please let your massage therapist be aware of some lotions or ointments you are allergic to before the session begins. Your massage therapist should perform an evaluation through touch to locate painful or tense areas and to determine how much pressure to apply during the massage therapy.

A massage session can last from about 15 to 90 minutes, depending on the type of massage and how much time you have to spare. You should feel calm and relaxed during and after your massage and like I said earlier a massage is meant to be enjoyed.

Now as good and wonderful as it sounds, Massage is not for everyone. If you have bleeding disorders or you are taking blood-thinning medications, it’s not for you.

Also if you have burns, open wounds, fractures, deep vein thrombosis, severe osteoporosis and thrombocytopenia, it’s not advisable that you undergo massages. Also do discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or suffering from cancer if it’s advisable for you to have massages.

So there you have it, the benefits of a massage. Discuss with your doctor to inquire if it is right for you and if it is, go get one now!
