Why 99% THCA Distillate Crystal Has Become My Favorite Medical Cannabis Product

2016-2017 has been a time of crazy fast expansion in the medical cannabis community. We’ve become accustomed to products that had yet to exist(in mass market form at least) on Jan 1st, 2016.

My favorite product to come out of this latest huge wave of innovation? 99% THCA Isolate Crystal.

It’s available from a few manufacturers here in Oregon, but I get mine from Select Strains, which is also now available in California, who use a cutting edge fractionalized distillation system to produce quality distillates in the 60% range, and quality isolates in the 80-99% range.

The price for a gram of this stuff? $60 if you find it at the right store on the right day. But the average store that carries it will have it at or over $100/g after tax.

The good thing about it, it isn’t great by itself. “What?” You’re saying. “How could something that is 99% THCA that vaporizes into 87% THC not be great?” One gram should last the average user most of a year. Basically what I’m saying is, if you see it on sale, pick some up. It will last until the next time you see it on sale, and you won’t regret it.

So what then, do you ask, is it good for? Mixing with basically anything.

I personally use it mostly for “supercharging”(dipping a dab of concentrate into it to increase its potency.) This allows one to turn $20/g budget shatter into stuff a lot more like the stuff people generally pay $60-100/g for. Very helpful to us medical users on fixed incomes who get really screwed if our medicine turns out to be less than what we expected.

You can also sprinkle a small amount onto a bowl, or into the chamber of your vaporizer to supercharge your herbs. I often do this with outdoor stuff where the taste is there, but the potency is slightly lacking.

And then you have edibles. Probably the most useful area for this product. If you’re throwing a party, you know that if you add a gram of this to whatever you’re cooking, it’s going to have exactly 870mg of THC after baking, and you can use that to dose it accordingly.

Not necessarily the least expensive method, but if knowing your dose is important to you, it’s likely the best.

If anyone else has tried THCA Isolate, I’d love to hear from you, and what you’re using it for.

Also, if you have questions, ask in the comments! That’s why I’m here!
