Gum
Maybe some people will feel panic, because the mind chewing gum can not be digested by the body, and will forever be in the stomach. What will actually happen to the swallowed gum? According to Gerry Mullin, a professor of medicine at John Hopkins Hospital, the body is actually able to digest some of the ingredients found in chewing gum, and the rest of the chewing gum material can be removed through the digestive system.
It just takes longer for chewing gum to get through the digestive system. However, one thing is certain, the gum can be removed smoothly through the exhaust system. So, you do not have to worry about it.
But for people who have Crohn's disease, where a narrowing of their intestines, accidentally swallowing gum may cause some pretty serious problems. Even easily digestible foods can be very risky when passing through a constricted intestinal area in crohn sufferers. In some rare cases, swallowed gum can also clog the intestine and cause stomach cramps, constipation and other stomach problems.
