A very vital part of a healthy lifestyle strategy is to take care of the brain as it's the body's power house, even more today’s creative society refers to being smart as the new sexy.
The human brain has a large potential to create, innovate, learn, analyze and perform different intellectual tasks at a multi tasking Level. This is basically the more reason why you need to squeeze the maximum potential out of your brain, even with the use of diet. Just picture your brain to be an expensive car which needs the best of oil and gas. It deserves the very best and nothing short of it, just like you do with all the other things in life. Just as taking quality care of every other thing in your life increases its longevity and makes it work better; taking care of your brain would make it last better. Also taking adequate care of your brain with essential foods will increase the chances of your brain staying healthy while aging, it will also help in preventing cognitive decline; its performance will thus stay maximized.
For your brain, it's quite important that you should eat brain foods every day, you should also be careful not to eat too much of them. Everything becomes toxic in excess, even the healthiest things. You’ll not become twice as smart if you eat more of these foods. Everything should be in moderation. So let's look at some of these brain foods.
- AVOCADOS – THE GREEN POWERHOUSE
Avocados are the number one superfood as a good number of scientists have claimed that the avocado is the most perfect food same as nuts as they are both filled with health fats and amount of low sugar which makes the blood run smoothly and over time would lower blood pressure.
You should know that good blood circulation results in healthier brains. They come in handy and are the best option for good eyesight, so you will be able to read more efficiently even at old age. Avocados are very rich in vitamins A, B, C, K and folate, so it's all good for your brain as well as your overall health. While avocados is great and a core ingredient for a green smoothie, you coukd also add them to a salad or eat them all natural.
However a little effect of avocado is that it's packed with calories, so while eating avocados, endeavour to make sure you eat them with utmost moderation. While it could be a difficult task to hard to find a perfectly ripe avocado. Nevertheless, make sure avocados have an important place in your diet.
- NUTS AND SEEDS
looking at a walnut, you'd remember your brains right? That’s basically because nuts and seeds are an awesome food pair for your brain, this is due to the high levels of Vitamin E and healthy fats which that prevents cognitive decline. It's the reason why a big pack of nuts is referred to as student’s food. There is a wide array of different types of nuts which one can choose from and they all taste very delicious. One thing tonne mindful of is the fact that nuts are filled with calories.
This nuts could be walnuts, almonds, pistachios, brazil nuts, cashews, it really doesn’t matter, just go for variety and make sure that nuts you eating are raw, organic and unsalted. Well, besides nuts, seeds are as well very great for the brain. Seeds do not come in very handy as nuts, but there is one very practical and tasty way to consume seeds and that's by adding them to your salad. Seeds woukd make your salad super tasty. Additionally, chia or flax seeds are a great option for you to mix in your green smoothie.
- VEGETABLES AND BROCOLLI
Broccoli just like walnuts takes on the shape of the human brain, only that It comes in green. Broccoli's are very much full of vitamins A, C, K, fibers, choline, folate and antioxidants, these are all very good for your thinking organ (the brain). The main thing here is that broccoli has high amounts of acetylcholine and glucosinolates which will make the nervous system function properly by preventing neurodegenerative diseases. Let's not forget about other green foods packed with vitamins A, K, lutein, folate and other antioxidants such as: Brussels sprouts, spinach, kale, lettuce etc. all these are super beneficial to your health and your brains. You should know that a single serving of green vegetables each day might just help keep dementia away.
- OATS AND BEANS
The human brain runs virtually on ketones or glucose, this depends on your diet. In other words if you are not on the keto diet, you would require a continuous flow of glucose to the brain and the best way to do is by eating some complex carbs which is filled with a low Glycemic Index and Load, and a lot of fibre as well. This would makes sure you do not have any energy crashes or insulin spikes. In massive addition to helping the brain, complex carbs woukd also provide one with a consistent level of energy, aid good digestion and metabolism. The nervous system will also feel relaxed and call as sugar makes the body hyperactive and anxious.
Underlisted are some healthy complex carbs you should try:
- Oats
- Millet
- Chest nuts
- Quinoa
- Buck wheat
- Brown rice

- Beans, lentils and peas.
- DONT JUST DRINK WATER - DRINK ENOUGH WATER
The last and probably best option for keeping ones brain healthy and your attention span strong with a proper diet is to drink enough water. You should know that the brain consist of 75 % water, so being hydrated is of importance in a bid to keep your brain working properly. Dehydration could bring about a decline in one's reasoning ability, attention span and one's overall cognitive function. So don't just drink water rather drink enough water so it will also flush toxins out of your body. Drink an adequate amount of water everyday and forget about other sugary drinks.
