RE: Lawsuit Claims Popular LaCroix Sparkling Water Has Insecticide and Other Harmful Chemicals

in #health7 years ago

A well balanced post as far as sources and evidence provided. I think the fact that natural ingredients begin to degrade quickly and the average time from production to consumption on groceries from international brands has all but required the adoption of preservatives. Certainly it is possible to get food locally or homesteading to avoid excess preservation beyond refrigeration, bottling processes, etc. With this view, and the fact that these compounds indeed occur naturally in the fruit oils that are flavoring, I do not feel this is an instance of being misleading. "All-natural" is an empty marketing phrase in the dietetics community and therefore has no rules to violate in a manner that is deceptive in the way the lawsuit wants to establish. I will be interested to see how this develops; regardless of the outcome of the ruling, this may allow greater public transparency on the currently unclear processes of creating a fairly simple processed product. It may spur others to further consider their own opinion.
